growing vegetables, farms, relationships, community
Many people, over many years have told us: "You are fun to learn with."
Individually and together, we offer various opportunities to collaborate on bettering this noble enterprise of The Family Farm.
We were interviewed by farmer, author and podcast host, Chris Blanchard in 2017. You can listen to that interview here.
Below are a few of the opportunities we are currently offering.
Relational Systems
Farmers are generally comfortable talking about their irrigation, bookkeeping, or bed forming system.
We firmly believe that the way in which we relate to the people around us is every bit a system as these other “hard” or conventionally recognized systems. A system is defined as “a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized scheme or method.” Yes. Whether we like it or not, each farm business has and can build upon its relational system.
We offer workshops, individual consultation, farm visits, collaboration on employee manuals, and more.
Mentoring
We have mentored nearly a dozen aspiring farmers through MOFGA's Journeyperson program. A year-long commitment, we work with JPs to hone their production plans, business plans and set up sustainable systems for their farms.
Farm tours, workshops and writing
We are happy to consider any opportunity to share what we know (and struggle with!) with others.
